Mr. W. Everett Billings, of Londonderry, NH, formerly of Lynnfield, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Wingate at Haverhill. He was 86 years old.
Mr. Billings was born July 14, 1921 in Lynn, son of the late Theodore M. Billings and Ruth (Rand) Billings.
Everett graduated from the Boston Trade High School. He worked as a Planner/Estimator for the Boston Naval Shipyard, retiring at the age of 51. Following his retirement, the Boston Naval Shipyard acknowledged Everett for his significant contribution over his 30 years of employment. He then worked as a Treasurer for the Melrose Cooperative Bank for 12 years.
Everett proudly served in the US Navy from 1944 - 1946 as a Machinist's Mate, First Class on the USS Vincennes.He was a member and past master of the Zetland Lodge AF&AM in Lynnfield and was actively involved with Demolay in Lynnfield.He was a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington and was an active member of the Christian Science Church in Reading.Everett was also an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
Mr. Billings was an incredibly handy and talented man. He built his own retirement home and spent winters in Bonita Springs, FL.
Everett was the beloved and loving husband of the late Mildred A. (Simmons) Billings with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, and the late Margaret Kimball Billings. Dear loving father of Pamela S. Norton of Andover andDavid S. Billings of Malden. Father in law of Michael D. Norton of Andover. Cherished grandfather of Michelle and Marina Norton both of Andover. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dear brother of the late Barbara Laroche and Donald Billings. Step-father of Thomas Kimball, Ann Rogers, and Linda Case all of Londonderry, NH.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, MELROSE, Friday, September 14 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
