Mrs. Virginia B. "Ginny" (Keniston) McBain, a resident of Brooksby Village in Peabody and formerly of Lynnfield and Melrose, passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 10, 2010 at Beverly Hospital.She was 90 years old.

Virginia B. McBain was born in Haverhill on August 28, 1920, one of three children of the late Frank E. Keniston and Gladys (Lunt) Keniston. She was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School.She lived in Melrose for many years where she and her husband, James Sr. raised their family.

Mrs. McBain worked for many years as a registered nurse.She began her career at the New Hampshire Memorial Hospital, now known as Concord Hospital, and later worked at Children's Hospital in Washington D.C.She was a member of the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church and enjoyed her membership in the Couples Club.Ginny also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered at the American Red Cross in Melrose.After moving from Melrose, she and Mr. McBain resided in Lynnfield for 20 years before moving to Brooksby Village in Peabody.

Mrs. McBain was the beloved wife of James H. McBain, Sr. with whom she shared 68 years of marriage.Devoted mother of James H. McBain, Jr. and his wife Jean of Wakefield, Candace R. Whittaker and her husband Ryan of Ossipee, NH, Sherry C. Iwamoto and her husband Kay of Middleton, Steven K. McBain and his wife Pat of Swampscott, and Philip D. McBain and his wife Marycarol of Westwood.Dear sister of Conrad G. Keniston of FL and the late Frank E. Keniston, Jr.Cherished grandmother of Joseph R. McBain, Jay D. McBain, Dawn N. Whittaker, Corey A. McBain and Ryan K. McBain.

Funeral Service at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 300 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody on Monday, November 15 at 1:30 PM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Sunday from 2-6 PM.Gifts in her memory may be made to the Shriners Burns Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114, or the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970 or to a charity of your choice.
