Mr. Vance E. Dickson, of Melrose, died Monday, October 15, 2007 in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after a short illness. He was 60.
He leaves his wife, Elizabeth A. 'Libby' Sweetnam; a son, Isaiah R. Sweetnam, both at home; his father, Morris Dickson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his mother and step-father, Elsie (Weiss) and Ralph Rosenfield of Port St. Lucie, Florida; a brother, Noel Dickson of Cincinnati; a niece, Anna Dickson of New York City; his in-laws, Richard W. and Nancy E. (Cunningham) Sweetnam of Manchester, Connecticut.
Vance was born March 28, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and later earned a Master's degree in International Relations from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
Vance had worked previously as a paralegal at the law firm of Sullivan and Worcester in Boston. Presently, he was active and proud to be at home raising his son, Isaiah. He was very interested in politics, current events and international studies and relations. An avid sports enthusiast and though a Cleveland native he was a loyal Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. In his earlier years, he traveled extensively throughout Europe, Afghanistan, India and Australia.
