Thomas Stanley, of North Reading, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at age 81. He was the devoted husband of 59 years to Sandra V. (Soule) Stanley and loving father to Debra (Stanley) Finn.
Tom was born on August 18, 1944 in Malden, to the late Thomas and Nellie Stanley. He grew up in Saugus with his younger sister Barbara, and as a child he loved cars, his dog Pal, and developed a lifelong love of Westerns. A proud graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1962, Tom made many friends who remained close for life. Tom married Sandy in 1966, and they spent nearly six decades devoted to one another and their families.
Tom proudly carried on his family legacy, working alongside his father at Stan's Aluminum for many decades. He truly loved working and never stopped taking on small jobs, even while snow birding in Florida. His dedication to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends, who will miss him dearly.
Tom made sure to both work hard and play hard. He made friends everywhere he went, had a great sense of humor, and was always the life of the party. He loved boating and riding his toys including his Harley-Davdison, but also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like Richardson's Ice Cream, devouring steamers, people watching, or meeting up for coffee with friends-sometimes more than once a day!
More than anything, Tom was a family man. Some of his most cherished moments are with his family at his beloved lake house on Lake Winnipesaukee, creating lasting memories by the water that will forever resonate in the hearts of those he loved. He offered unwavering support and guidance to his family and was always the first to lend a hand in need. He was truly an incredible man. We miss him immensely.
Tom was the beloved husband of Sandra V. (Soule) Stanley, devoted father of Debbie Finn and her life partner David Bailin of North Andover. Loving brother of the late Barbara Sica and her late husband Joseph. Cherished "Grampy" to Michelle Finn and her fiancé Michael Blanchet, John Finn and his wife Imma, Adam Finn and his wife Maggie. Proud great-grandfather to Emily Lemay and Joshua Murray. Cherished uncle of Steven Sica and his wife Barbara, and Scott Sica and his life partner Lisa.
Relatives and friends are warmly invited to gather in honor of Tom's life during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 9-11am followed by his Funeral Service celebrated at 11am. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Tom may be made to the American Heart Association, 93 Worcester St., Wellesley, MA. 02481.
