Stuart F. "Sid" Sidmore, 82
of Melrose passed away on November 13, 2004 at Harborside Health Care in Wakefield.He was 82. Born in Salem, MA, son of the late Austin R. and Marie D. (Peterson) Sidmore, Stuart was raised and educated in Danvers graduating from Danvers High School in 1940.He attended the Franklin Institute in Boston and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Stuart was a self-employed General Contractor and owned Sidmore Construction for 27 years retiring in 1985. Stuart was very active in the First Baptist Church in Melrose where he served as Past President of the Barry Class and was also the superintendent of the Sunday School.Stuart was past Chairman of the Boy Scout Committee and was a member of Wyoming Lodge AF&AM, Melrose.He enjoyed collecting pictures of Covered Bridges. Sid was the husband of 61 years to Elizabeth M. "Betty" (Scarborough) Sidmore. Father of Richard A. Sidmore and his wife Brenda of Melrose and the late Stuart F. Sidmore Jr. and his wife Janet of New London, NH. Brother of F. Merrill Sidmore of VA and M. Dorothea Eaton of NC. Grandfather of Suzanne Walters, Steven Sidmore, Richard Sidmore, Christopher Sidmore, Jeffrey Sidmore and Daniel Sidmore. Sid was also survived by 9great grandchildren.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose Wednesday November 17 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8 p.m.Memorial Donations in Sid's name may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 561 Main St., Melrose, MA 02176. Interment will be at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose, MA.
