Mrs. Bassett was born September 29, 1924 in Central Falls, RI, daughter of the late George Slocum and Katie (Peirce) Slocum. Mrs. Bassett graduated from Dartmouth High School and the Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor, ME. She taught music in the Orono, MEPublic Schools. She was a long time member of the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church.Sarah played 1st violin for the Melrose Symphony Orchestra for many years.
Sarah was the wife of 53 years to Howard W. Bassett.Mother of David S. Bassett of Gaithersburg, MD and John H. Bassett and his wife, Amy of Wakefield.Sisterof Lucretia Lozis of Auburn, ME.Grandmother of Nicholas J. Bassett and Jacob W. Bassett, both of Wakefield.
