Mrs. Ruth (Williams) Perkins of Melrose and Ipswich, died Tuesday evening, November 1, 2005 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Mrs. Perkins was born January 19, 1914 in New York City, NY, daughter of the late Gustaf Williams and Anna (Israelsson) Williams of Sweden. Mrs. Perkins was a graduate of Brown University, class of 1935.Before her marriage, she was a Statistical Manager for an Investment Counseling firm in New York City and worked in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church where she was very active.She was a summer resident of Perkins Island, Ipswich.Mrs. Perkins was a member of the Women's Republican Club of Melrose, Melrose Community Associates, The American Association of University Women and a member of the Melrose Historical Society and the Ipswich Historical Society. Mrs. Perkins was the wife of 63 years to V. Edward Perkins.Mother of Virginia Anne Mamdani and her husband Ebrahim of Brentwood, Essex, England.Sister of the late Gustave Williams, Carl Williams and Harold Williams.Grandmother of Geoffrey Mamdani and Caroline Mamdani, both of London, England.Funeral Service at the First United Methodist Church, 645 Main St., Melrose, Monday, November 7 at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE Sunday, 2-5PM.
