Mr. Pasquale A. "Rick" Mattei, a resident of Littleton, New Hampshire and formerly a longtime resident of Everett, died suddenly, on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Littleton Regional Hospital, at the age of 60.
Pasquale was born in Bedford, on April 3, 1951, one of two children of the late Louis Mattei and Helen (Keats) Mattei.Raised and educated in Malden, Pasquale was affectionately known as Rick.He was a graduate of Malden High School where he played hockey.
From 1983 to 1984, Rick was the Exalted Ruler for the Elks Lodge #642 in Everett.He was also an Auxiliary Police Officer for the City of Everett from 1983 to 1988.
A lifelong mechanic, Rick was a car guy.He worked for Smyly Buick in Malden and Bob Brest Autoworld in Lynn.More recently, he worked at Logan Airport for Alamo Rental Car.He was also a great cook.He loved baking, especially pies, and enjoyed learning how to make donuts at his brother-in-law's donut store in Reading. He was a passionate fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins.
He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Kathleen A. (Denish) Mattei.Loving father of Louis J. Mattei and his wife Danielle of Worcester and Kelly A. Mattei and her longtime boyfriend Gerry Fasano of Everett.Dear brother of Pauline Nicholas and her husband James of Middleton.Cherished grandfather of Anthony Mattei of Everett and Roy Mattei of Worcester.Caring son-in-law of Lawrence E. Denish of Everett and the late Barbara T. Denish.Loving brother-in-law of Lawrence L. Denish of Everett, John F. Denish of PA, Francis W. Denish of Everett, Margaret C. Lever of Everett, Marie A. Hidden of Revere, William G. Denish of Everett, Joseph R. Denish of Peabody, Paul E. Denish of Melrose, Barbara E. Rawcliffe of Saugus, Elizabeth A. Murphy of Everett, and Mary T. Denish of Everett.Also survived by many, many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will honor and celebrate Rick's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, November 28 from 4-8 PM and again on Tuesday morning at 8:45 AM before leaving in procession to Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM.Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
