Nancy J. Plante

Nancy J. Plante, of Peabody, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 23, 2026. She was 93.

Born in Malden on February 5, 1933, Nancy was one of two children of the late Herbert I. and Marjorie (Selfridge) Phillips. Nancy was raised in Reading and graduated from Reading High School.

She built a life centered on connection and purpose, pouring her heart into a long, beloved career as Program Director at North Shore Community College, and later bringing that same energy to the Lynnfield Senior Center. In both places, her work was anchored by the deep, lasting friendships she so easily made.

Sharp minded and fiercely independent, Nancy lived with a quiet elegance and a vibrant sense of humor. She knew how to savor life's true pleasures, whether reading a great book, going on a long walk, dancing, going to a new travel destination, or simple laughter shared over a fine glass of wine and a great meal with family.

Nancy's love, warmth, and sense of humor will live on, she will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Harlan R. Plante with whom she shared over 40 years of marriage. Devoted mother of F. Robert Allison and his wife Suzanne of Topsfield, Bruce Allison of Oregon, and Jason Plante and his wife Andrea of Peabody. Loving sister of the late Polly. Cherished grandmother of Emily Sands and her husband Matthew, Kailey Allison, Syndey Allison, Courtney Allison, Jozsef Gal and Julia Gal and great-grandmother of William and Jackson Sands.

Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of Nancy for her Funeral Service at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Wednesday, July 29 at 10am. Private interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
