Marie Therese Lee

Marie Therese Lee, formerly longtime resident of Medford and more recently of Melrose, died peacefully at Care One at Wilmington on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at age 94.

Born in Boston on August 18, 1929, she was the oldest of four children of the late Margaret (Tobin) and Edward Lee. Raised and educated in Medford, Marie worked as a banking secretary on State Street in Boston for her entire career. Compassionate and always kindhearted, she retired to care for her mother and father in their later years.

Years ago, Marie’s innate empathy led her to adopt a rescue dog. With a sense of purpose and tender heart, Marie passionately cared for, trained, and raised numerous dogs in need throughout her life.

Smart and clever, Marie had a dry and sharp sense of humor, often accompanied by her great laugh. She loved watching old movies, was a lifelong passionate Notre Dame football fan, and could spell any word instantly. She had a great sense of style, an easy smile, and the most caring of hearts. A devout Catholic, she was a faithful parishioner in Boston. Marie will be missed, but lovingly remembered for her sharp mind, great sense of humor, and boundless and genuine compassion for others.

Marie was predeceased by her parents and two brothers Edward Lee and Colonel Jack Lee.  Marie is survived by her loving sister Ginny Lee of Mill Valley, CA, sister-in-law Mary Lee of Oakland, CA, and nephews John Paul Lee, Jr. of Denver, CO, Richard Lee of Kailua-Kona, HI, Patrick Lee of Tucson, AZ, Michael Lee of Cortez, CO, Peter Lee of Salinas, CA, James Lee of Plano, TX, and nieces Christina Marrs of Rochester, NH, Patricia Pirowski of Springfield, VA, and Ann Marie Lee of Oakland, CA. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the Church of the Incarnation, 429 Upham St., Melrose on Tuesday, December 12 for her Funeral Mass at 12:00pm. Interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
