Obituary

Maria Rodriguez, 85, of Stoneham, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at RegalCare at Courtyard in Medford.

Born on March 16, 1941, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico to the late Adolfo and Carmen (Rodriguez) Torres, Maria exemplified strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion throughout her life.

From a young age, Maria was deeply involved in her Catholic faith, finding solace and community through her church. With the untimely passing of her beloved husband, Victor, she took on the mantle of raising her family single-handedly, demonstrating the fierce love and commitment that defined her life.

Maria immigrated to the United States permanently in 1966. Over the years, she cultivated a nurturing environment, not only for her children but for many who crossed her path. A warm and loving person, Maria opened her heart and home to foster children, and her dedication to family was a cornerstone of her life.

Her unwavering care extended beyond her immediate family; after the loss of her father Adolfo, she devoted herself to caring for her mother, Carmen. Maria shared a deep bond with her siblings, cherishing the love and support of her family. She was a beacon of light, leading by example with her faith, reading her Bible faithfully, and participating in a group that recited rosaries for those who had passed.

Maria loved to host family gatherings, filling her home with laughter and the aromas of her cooking. She also enjoyed occasional family travels. As long as she was with loved ones, she was happy anywhere.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Victor Rodriguez with whom she shared 15 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Joel Rodriguez of Malden, Carmen Antonellis of Stoneham, Victor Rodriguez and his significant other Patti Mills of Colorado, and Migdalia Marin and her husband Aljavan of Arkansas. Loving sister of Anna GonzCherished the late Serafin Torres, Mateo Torres, Alberto Torres, Teodora Rodriguez, Maria Luisa Gonzalez and Julia Torres. Cherished grandmother of Christopher Antonellis, Dr. Matthew Antonellis, Janine Antonellis, Aljavan Martin, Jr., Jeremy Martin, and Modesto Rodriguez.
