Margaret "Peggy" Miano

Mrs. Margaret (Thomas) "Peggy" Miano, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at age 83.

Margaret was born in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Manuel and Helen (Gagnon) Thomas. She was raised and educated in Cambridge where she met the love of her life and best friend, Anthony Miano. They were married on November 23, 1952 and settled in Melrose to raise a family of three children.

Margaret, lovingly known as "Peggy" to everyone she knew, worked for over 30 years at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She dedicated herself to her position as a Medical Records Assistant, a job she loved. Over the years, many of her coworkers became dear friends, and Peggy treasured all of the relationships, memories and lunches they shared. With a warm heart

When not at the hospital working, Peggy was rarely still. She enjoyed staying busy around the house and had more energy than most people half her age. Her home in Melrose was a central gathering place where she hosted family holidays, dinner parties, and annual pool parties on the fourth of July. Loyal, caring, and thoughtful, Peggy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved helping others.

Most of all, she and Tony were never apart. They were happiest when together, and shared many nights out dancing and date nights together. She will be missed, but always lovingly remembered.

Peggy was the beloved wife and best friend of Anthony Miano with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Sheryl Higgins and her husband Jeff of Lynnfield, Kenneth Miano and his wife Christine of Tewksbury, and Michele Price and her husband Shannon of Boston. Sister of Madeline LoMonaco, Evelyn Accorto, and many other deceased siblings. Cherished grandmother of Ryan Higgins and his wife Madeleine, Christopher Higgins and his wife Alexandra, Cameron Higgins, Anthony Miano, Brianna Miano, and Avery Price.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Peggy's life during visiting hours at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1055 Main St., Wakefield on Saturday, July 8 from 10:00-12:00 noon, followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at 12:00 noon.
