Joseph E. Graves, “Uncle Joe” as he was known to many, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, December 18, 2025 following a recent illness. Prior to his illness, he resided in Medford, MA, where he was kindly and courteously cared for by all who lived, worked, and visited there.

Joseph was born on October 9, 1941 in Melrose, to the late Elmer Richard and June (Gibbons) Graves. Joseph was predeceased in death by his brother, Robert Graves of NH in 2024 and Richard Graves of ME in 2012.

Joe loved spending summer days at the family camp in Salem, NH, and could often be seen cruising around Arlington Pond in his sailboat and paddleboat.

“Uncle Joe” was well-loved and compassionately cared for by his entire family. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Graves of Hudson NH, his nieces Kimberly Boilard of Hudson NH, Laurie Beck and her husband Scott of Statesville, NC, and Laura Graves of Saco ME. His surviving nephews include Robert Graves, Jr. and wife Julianne of Round Rock, TX, Richard Graves, Jr. and wife Machelle of Saco ME, and James Graves and wife Marlene of Rochester, NH. Uncle Joe had many grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, and friends who loved and cherished him dearly.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather in honor of Uncle Joe’s life during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 10-11am, followed by his Funeral Service at 11am. Interment to follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
