Mr. John L. Malolepszy, a resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2016 at Lawrence-Memorial Hospital, at age 78.
Born in Chelsea on June 21, 1937, he was one of four children of the late Joseph and Regina (Michalski) Malolepszy. John graduated from Christopher Columbus High School and Salem State University before enlisting in the US Marine Corps.He lived in Chelsea in his youth, settled in Winthrop for many years, and later in life moved to Melrose.Most recently, John worked for Fed Ex as a customer representative in Everett.
John was proud of his Polish heritage, enjoyed a return trip to Poland with his father, and loved all Polish music, food, and culture. He was a devout Catholic, and practiced his faith daily. In his free time, he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was an avid reader throughout his life.
John was the devoted father of Maria McCormack and her husband Tom of Melrose, and Dr. John Malolepszy and his wife Mary Beth of N. Andover. Dear brother of Pauline Heffley and her late husband Jack of Amherst, Bernice Thompson and her husband Harland of Colorado Springs, CO, and the late Barbara Kanclerowicz and her late husband Henry. Loving grandfather of Leah, Andrew, Jack, Ned, and Megan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor of John's life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, March 3 at 9am before leaving in procession to the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose for his Funeral Mass at 10am. Interment with US Marine Corps honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
