Jeffrey R. Mullin, resident of Wakefield, MA, passed away tragically on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston following a cardiac event. He was only 44.
Jeff was born in Methuen on September 30, 1979, and raised in Derry, New Hampshire. He graduated from Pinkterton Academy, and Plymouth State University where he played basketball. Jeff’s determination and love for service led him to become a firefighter at Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, NH, before embarking on a successful career in freight logistics with GlobalTranz. Jeff's dedication, intelligence, and hard work were evident as he built his own agency from the ground up, providing superior customer service to his clients.
Jeff's life was one filled with purpose, passion, and a genuine love for those around him. He was blessed with a wonderful marriage to Raquel with whom he shared 14 years with before their marriage in Newport, RI on September 4, 2021. They built a beautiful life together of laughter, cooking, live music, traveling, seeing friends, and reconnecting with their favorite spots in Newport. Jeff loved gardening and prepping his own vegetables for dinner with Raquel, rooting for Boston sports teams, especially the Bruins and Celtics, and cherished time with his (very energetic) chocolate lab, Riley. Loyal to friends and family, Jeff served as the glue with his longtime buddies and inspired many outings, trips and get togethers. After Raquel, one of his biggest loves in life was his black Chevy pickup truck which was washed without fail every Sunday.
Jeff was a wonderful person, selflessly devoted to Raquel and willing to help anyone around him. He volunteered at the Pine Street Inn, served meals during Thanksgiving, and donated his time making Christmas baskets for those in need. He took special joy in watching his nieces grow up, and being involved in their lives. Even in his passing, Jeff's generosity continued, as he selflessly provided the gift of life to four individuals through organ donation.
Jeff was a disciplined, hard-working guy who made others around him better. He was a natural in making other people feel comfortable, and could sell you anything, including one of his famous martinis. Jeff’s tragic loss leaves an immeasurable hole, but his selfless nature, and ability to bring joy to others will continue to inspire his family and friends forever.
Jeff was the beloved husband of Raquel Sa with whom he shared 16 beautiful years. Cherished son of Monika Farrington and her husband Barry O’Neill of Derry, NH, and George F. Mullin of Andover. Dear brother of Christopher Mullin and his wife Toni Baker of Andover, and brother-in-law of Paul Sa of Melrose and Patricia Marcus and her husband Jason of Malden. Caring son-in-law of Fernanda Sa of Malden and the late Guilherme Sa. Loving nephew of Ann Farrington of Manchester, NH and Michael Farrington and his wife Kathy of AZ. Proud uncle of Taylor Sa, and Sophia and Leila Marcus.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather in Jeff’s honor during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Tuesday, December 12 from 5:30-8:00pm, and again on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 8:45am before leaving in procession to Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main St., Malden for his Funeral Mass celebrated at 10am. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
