James E. Murphy

James E. Murphy, Jr., a resident of Wakefield and formerly of Melrose, passed away unexpectedly at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at age 52.

Jim was born in Malden on June 6, 1968. He was raised in Melrose, but his family moved to Malden and he graduated from Malden High School in 1986.

Jim served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 1988 until 1990. For 26 years, Jim worked as a Manager at DB Schenker in Peabody. Previously, he had worked at BAX Global. A well-loved man, Jim was an integral part of the team wherever he worked. In his free time, Jim was an avid Boston sports fan, in particular the Red Sox and Patriots. He also loved music, especially Bob Dylan. Intelligent with a quick mind, Jim loved trivia contests especially American history and geography.

Above all, Jim dedicated himself to those around him. He was well-loved by his coworkers, and cherished by his family. He will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered.

Jim was the beloved son of James E. Murphy Sr. and the late Arlene (Jay) Murphy. Cherished brother of Mark Murphy of Salem, Colleen Murphy and her husband Eric Taitano of Melrose, Kerry Murphy and her husband Jim Schena of Stoneham, and Jerry Murphy of Mansfield. Loving uncle of Kaley Murphy, Devin Murphy, Emily Murphy, Eric Taitano, Alianna Taitano, Alec Taitano.
