James T. Meehan, of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025 at his home. He was 84.
Born on September 14, 1940, in Boston, Jim grew up in Marblehead and Wellesley Hills, where his kindness, gentle spirit, and great sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. He served in the United States Army. Jim was a proud veteran embodying the values of dedication and service
His hard work and determination were evident throughout his life, as he approached every challenge with grace and tenacity. Jim ultimately passed from symptoms related to his Parkinson's disease, which he courageously fought for 15 years. Jim was an inspiration to us all for his impenetrably positive spirit as he brought a positive attitude to every single day. Above all, James was a loving husband to his wife, Sally and extended family with whom he shared countless memories and a deep bond built on love and respect.
James will be remembered not only for his unwavering support to his family and friends but also for the joy he brought to those around him. He had a remarkable ability to brighten a room with his laughter and wisdom, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
Jim was the beloved husband of Sally Meehan. Loving brother of William Meehan and his wife Clare of Pittsburgh, PA. and the late Jane Ross. Proud uncle of William Jr., Sarah, Karen, Debrah, Nancy, and Laura.
Jim will forever remain in our hearts. As we say goodbye, let us all carry forward his legacy of kindness and service.
Services for Jim will be private. Interment in Hollyhood Cemetery, Chestnut Hill.
