Mr. Frederick W. Brown, Jr. a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, November 22, 2010 at Oosterman's Rest Home in Melrose.He was 85 years of age.

Frederick was born on September 6, 1925 in Tilton, New Hampshire, one of two children of the late Frederick W. Brown Sr. and Grace (Hutchinson) Brown.

Mr. Brown was raised in Medford and enlisted into the United States Merchant Marine at a young age.He served his country proudly for 49 years from 1943 to 1992 as a radio officer and was a member of the American Radio Association.Mr. Brown will be remembered by all who knew him as a true liberal who firmly believed in the many progressive causes he supported.

Fred was the beloved husband of the late Doreen N. (Bridle) Brown with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.Devoted father of Daryl C. Brown and his wife Sheila of Medford, Lori A. Lloyd and her husband Richard of Melrose, Scott H. Brown and his wife Kathleen of Holden, and Linda L. Parker of Melrose.Dear brother of Leon Brown of Bartlett, NH.Cherished grandfather of Alexandra Lloyd, Oliva Lloyd, Brittney Parker, Darren Parker, Justin Parker, William Brown, Ethan Brown and Christina Stafford.Loving great grandfather of Emma Stafford and Elizabeth Stafford.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Saturday, November 27 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.Funeral Services will be private.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
