Frederick A. Ashman, Jr. age 82
of Melrose died at home, December 24, 2004 after a brief illness. Mr. Ashman was born in Malden June 1, 1922 son of the late Frederick Ashman and Georgietta (Phillipps) Ashman.
Mr. Ashman was a Bookbinder for 40 years with Cuneo Press.He was an Army WWII veteran serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations, during the New Guinea Campaign and Fred was awarded THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL for his meritorious achievement in ground operations against the enemy.Fred was a member of the VFW Post 2394, Melrose and also the VFW Drill Team.He was a member of Fidelity Lodge AF&AM, Melrose and the Aleppo Temple Shrine. Fred and his wife "Marty" were members of the Northshore Old Car Club and Fred was a devoted animal lover. Frederick was the belovedhusband of 53 years to Martha "Marty" (Martel) Ashman and the brother of Evelyn "Evy" Ashman of Peabody, Eleanor "Ellie" Hoag of Marco Island, FL and the late Charlotte Mahoney and Dorothy Chesley. Fred was alsosurvived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE Wednesday December 29, 2004 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM.
