Frances had a natural gift for making people feel welcome and found great joy in bringing family and friends together.
Frances (Leone) Saccone, a longtime resident of Saugus, passed away peacefully in Scituate on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. She was 102.
Born in Boston on May 17, 1924, Frances was the daughter of the late Anthony Leone and Filomena (Mazza) Leone. She was lovingly raised by her Aunt Grace, Uncle Joe, and her beloved grandmother, whom she affectionately called "Mama Nona." She graduated from Girls High School in Boston and later attended the Boston Conservatory of Music, where she studied music.
Frances married Dr. William A. Saccone, and together they made their home in Saugus, where they raised their four children. She lived in Saugus for seventy years before moving to Scituate in 2022.
Frances had a natural gift for making people feel welcome and found great joy in bringing family and friends together. Her home was often filled with home cooked meals, conversation, laughter, and occasionally a jitterbug. She loved cooking, singing, dancing, knitting, oil painting, or sharing a spontaneous skit or dance for family and friends. Whether preparing a favorite meal, working on a creative project, or planning a gathering, Frances found happiness in sharing her many talents with the people she loved.
For many years, summers in Scituate were among Frances's happiest times. The family's beach house became a favorite gathering place where she delighted in cooking, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends.
Above all, Frances was devoted to her family. Over the course of 102 years, she watched generations of her family grow and created countless traditions and memories that will continue for years to come. Her creativity and generous hospitality leave a lasting legacy, and she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Frances was the beloved wife of the late Dr. William A. Saccone with whom she shared 47 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Kenneth Saccone and his wife Carla of Melrose, David Saccone of FL, Debora Lombardo and her husband Paul of Scituate, and the late William Saccone, Jr. Dear sister of William Leone of Schenectady, NY and Adelaide Annunziata of Amsterdam, NY. Cherished grandmother of Nicole Saccone Muphy, Carl Saccone, Christina Boudrow, Paul Lombardo III, Elisa Bodkin, David Saccone, Caroline Saccone, Nicole Bolen, and the late William Saccone III. Loving great-grandmother of Bella Boudrow, Sophia Boudrow, Paul J. Lombardo IV, Vincent Lombardo, Elizabeth Bodkin, Patrick Bodkin, Madelyn Murphy, Audrey Saccone, Claire Saccone, Henry Saccone.
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in honor of Frances during Visiting Hours at Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Wednesday, July 29 from 4-7pm, and for her Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere on Thursday, July 30 at 10am.
