Mr. Ernest W. Whittier, a life-long resident of Melrose, died Tuesday evening, January 17, 2006 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Mr. Whittier was born in Melrose, April 26, 1925, son of the late Herbert E. Whittier and Clara (Morrill) Whittier.
Mr. Whittier graduated from Melrose High School, class of 1943. He served in the United States Marines in the South Pacific during WWII.He then attended Bentley College.He had worked as a salesman for National Biscuit Company for 34 years.Following retirement he worked several years for Enterprise Rent-a-Car.
Beloved husband of 51 years to Faith L. (Ballantyne) Whittier. Devoted father of Stephen D. Whittier and his wife, Ann of Salem, Allyson L. Whittier of Melrose, Kenneth E. Whittier and his wife, Jane of Waltham and Heather F. Romano and her husband, James of Westford.Cherished grandfather of Justin Whittier, Erika Siegfried and her husband John Siegfried, Christopher, Jason, Kenneth and Collin Whittier and Ella and Matty Romano. Great grandfather of Ursula and Georgia Siegfried.Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
