Mrs. Edith N. "Edie" (Wentzel) Brennan, a resident of Stoneham and formerly of Melrose, passed away on October 14, 2010 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a period of declining health.She was 82 years old.
Edie Brennan was born in Melrose on January 14, 1928, one of six children of the late Arthur F. Wentzell and Helen (Berry) Wentzell.
Mrs. Brennan was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School.She enjoyed visiting Maine and loved lighthouses, sewing and knitting.A big sports fan, Edie loved the Red Sox and convinced her husband to purchase season tickets for the New England Patriots.She was also a member of the Kiwanis Club.
Edie was the beloved wife of the late Richard K. "Dick" Brennan with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Normajean Bonnett and her husband Jerry of N. Reading and Richard K. Brennan, Jr. and his wife Julieanne of Melrose.Dear sister of Barbara Jones of Melrose and the late Carrie Wentzel, Sonney Wentzel, Esther Clark, and Arthur Wentzel.Cherished grandmother of Jay and Kayla Bonnett and Jolene, Melissa, and Thomas Brennan.Loving great-grandmother of Erica Ann.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, October 19 at 12 Noon.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours on Monday from 5-8 PM.Interment in Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
