Deborah L. "Debbie" Diamond

Deborah L. “Debbie” Diamond, a resident of Newport, RI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Newport Hospital, at age 74.

Debbie was born in Lynn on January 14, 1950. Raised near the beach in Lynn, she held her love of the ocean strong and dear throughout her life. After graduating from high school, she was inspired by her father to attend Indiana University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree, and her Master’s Degree. After graduating, Debbie became a dedicated, hardworking Licensed Mental Health Counselor. For many years, Debbie worked in the demanding but rewarding field in Indiana, and Massachusetts. During her career, she specialized in helping those most in need navigate difficult emotional times and was widely sought after for her compassion and expertise.

Debbie lived a full life of favorite hobbies and activities outside of her work. She enjoyed the winter months skiing across New England and Colorado, often enhanced when accompanied by her dearest nephews, Jason and Justin.  She also developed a real passion for photography and was honored and recognized in national publications. An avid reader and collector, Debbie held an extensive book collection and enjoyed passing the time hunting for new treasures at thrift stores, and bargain shopping for high quality items.

Debbie often found herself returning to the coast of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard to feel the closeness of the ocean. She enjoyed capturing images of the beach waves and natural landscapes of the islands, in particular her favorite destination of Gay Head. Debbie had a lifelong love for anything nautical, filling her home with decorative pieces that brought the ocean into her home. She also tended lovingly to her numerous full size house plants and grew cooking herbs at her home in Newport. Creative and self-reliant, Debbie prioritized health and wellness, filling her cabinets with natural foods, anything Kosher and loved to share her love of cooking with her family.

Debbie was a gentle and thoughtful soul that was always willing to help, often putting others needs before her own. She gave freely with gifts and shared moments with family both large and small that became memorable experiences and conversations to last a lifetime. With an innate curiosity, intelligent mind, and fearless spirit, Debbie was exhilarated by new places and adventures. She was never afraid to take a risk and kept an open mind, but remained true to herself and her values.

Debbie will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered for her strength, independence, and creative intelligent mind.

Debbie was the cherished daughter of the late George and Mildred (Slipsky) Diamond. Caring sister of Roberta Diamond of Boston, and the late Dennis Diamond (who passed recently on Nov. 11, 2024) and his surviving wife Vivian of Lynn. Beloved and proud aunt of Jason Diamond and his fiancé Emily of Sutton, and the late Justin A Diamond.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather in honor of Debbie’s life for her Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 10:30am.
