David H. Lacey of Reading, Retired Melrose Police Officer, passed away on Saturday evening, December 20, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family.He was 65 years old.
Dave Lacey was born August 4, 1943 in Medford, a son of the late Henry A. Lacey and Jessie (Anthony) Lacey.
Dave was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1962.After graduating from high school, he worked for National Radio for several years.From 1965 to 2000, Dave worked as a Melrose Police Officer as a patrolman, traffic safety officer, accident reconstructionist, and prosecutor.In 2000, Dave retired from the Melrose Police Department and began working for the Reading Chronicle as a photographer and journalist.
Dave was an avid fisherman and family man.He was a car enthusiast who very much enjoyed repairing cars.He loved music, gathering with his friends to watch the New England Patriots, and vacationing in Vermont.
Dave was the beloved husband of Colleen (Fitzgerald) Lacey with whom he shared 28 years of marriage.Dear father of Sandra Lacey of Cambridge, Kenneth Lacey and his wife Donna M. of Londonderry, NH, Jessica M. Lacey of Norwood, and Evan D. Lacey of Reading.Dear brother of Dorothy Brandon of Lakewood, CA, George E. Lacey of Portola, CA, Jeanne McCarthy of Malden, and Milton Lacey of N. Fort Meyers, FL.Cherished grandfather of Tyler K. Lacey, Ryan M. Lacey, and Aliceyn W. Lacey.
