David M. Gauvreau of Melrose, MA, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2025, one day after celebrating his 87th birthday.
Born on August 21, 1938, in Somerville, MA, David lived a full and meaningful life. He wore many hats over the years — treasurer and owner of Eastern Air and Refrigeration, moderator at the First Congregational Church in Melrose, general manager of Congregational Retirement Homes, and later as the proud owner of Days Gone By Antiques in Essex, MA.
Above all, David cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Lois; his three daughters, Kimberlee and her husband Neil, Karen and her partner Glenn, and Tami and her partner Edward; his grandchildren Eliza, Annaliese, and Noah; and granddog Jasper, all of whom brought him endless joy.
David will be remembered for his deep love of the Boston Red Sox, his passion for old movies, country music and travel, and the gift of finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. His kindness, humor, and quiet but steady presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the First Congregational Church in Melrose at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the First Congregational Church (121 West Foster Street, Melrose, MA, 02176) or to Boston Children's Hospital (tribute gift at giving.childrenshospital.org/donate/honor-memorial-giving).
