Christopher O'Connor, a longtime resident of Saugus, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at age 84.
Chris was born in Somerville on February 27, 1936, one of three children of the late George and Catherine (Donovan) O'Connor. He was raised in Chelsea where he graduated from Chelsea High School. After high school, he entered the US Army and served his country faithfully. After receiving an honorable discharge, Chris earned his Accounting degree from Bentley University. For over 30 years, Chris served as a Financial Manager for the Environmental Protection Agency.
Chris was a humble man who centered his life around his family. He loved bowling on Saturday, watching the Patriots on Sunday, or spending a morning golfing. Above all, Chris was happiest at home surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will carry on through his family.
Chris was the beloved husband of Mary (Riley) O'Connor with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Devoted father of Christine Rocha and her husband Ron of Melrose, Michele Gwozdz and her husband David of N. Reading. Cherished grandfather of Matthew and Paige Rocha, and Chris and Colleen Gwozdz. Dear brother of the late Joan and Dorothy O'Connor.
Out of respect and concern for public health, services to honor Chris will be held privately. If you wish, consider a donation in honor of Chris to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence MA 01843.
