Charles G. Cokkinos, age 89
of Medford, died suddenly December 27, 2004 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. Charlie was born in Boston October 3, 1915, son of the late George K. Cokkinos and Melpo (Apostle) Cokkinos. Charlie, for over 40 years, was a "Candy Man," working for the Palace of Sweets in Malden, after which he opened Dandy Dutch Candies in Waltham. Charlie grew up in Malden, graduated from Malden High School, and served in the Army during WWII.
Charles was the husband of 50 years of J. Lilas (Sentner) Cokkinos and the brother of Freda Bornas of Windsor Locks, CT and the late William Cokkinos and Andrew Cokkinos. Brother in law of Ethel Polley of Atkinson, NH, Vivian Craig of Wilmington and Cynthia Way of North Potomac, MD.Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE Friday December 31 at 9 AM.Funeral Service in Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE Thursday 4-8 PM.Gifts in his memory may be made to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn, MA 01801.Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.Arrangements by Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St. Melrose, MA
