Catherine M. "Kay" Hill
Kay was born in Winthrop on March 29, 1931, one of five children of the late Catherine M. (Walsh) Silck and Frederick J. Silck. She was raised in Winthrop, graduating from Winthrop High School with the Class of 1950 where she served on the Student Government as Class Treasurer. She was married to the late Frederick B. Hill and they settled in Melrose to raise a family of four children.
A caring mother, Kay was always concerned with the happiness of her children, and later worried about her grandchildren. With her great sense of humor, Kay loved to get a laugh out of anyone. She was always smiling, and had a warm, welcoming presence wherever she was.
Kay was the wife of the late Frederick B. Hill. Devoted mother of Karen M. McHugh and her husband Patrick of Bedford, TX, Michael T. Hill and his wife Cathy of Bedford, NH, Judy A. Allan and her husband Bill of Melrose, and Richard M. Hill and his wife Mary of Medford. Caring sister of John Silck, and the late Frederick Silck, Jr., Claire Tully, Arline McLean. Loving grandmother of Paul McHugh, Matt McHugh, Daniel McHugh, Kathryn Hill, Jon Hill, Julie Couture, Amanda Santarpio, and William Allan. Cherished great-grandmother of Hailey Couture, Chloe Couture, William Allan, Audrey Allan, Adam McHugh, and Allison McHugh.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Kay's life for her Funeral Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield celebrated on Friday, July 7 at 9:00 am.Gifts in memory of Kay may be made to Hospice Services at the VNA of Manchester & Southern New Hampshire, 1070 Holt Ave., Ste. 1400, Manchester, NH 03109.
