Burton S. Glassman

Burton S. Glassman, a resident of Medford, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2020, at age 88.

Born in Boston on November 16, 1932, Burton was one of two sons of the late George Glassman and Sarah (Goldwarg) Zeesman. He was raised and educated in Boston before entering the United States Army at age 18. Burt served as a Private 1 st Class during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953.

Burton and Catherine Hogan were married on January 6, 1957 and they settled in Somerville to raise a family of three. Burt worked for over 30 years at Raytheon as a Missile System Engineer. After retirement, Burton worked at Vocell Bus Company in Medford for 23 years. Burt was a dedicated family man who served as the strength of the family. When his children were young, he coached hockey, and took great pride in teaching them how to ice skate. At home in Somerville, weekends were spent with family and friends in the backyard, relaxing in the pool, or hosting cookouts. He loved nights out dancing and going out to dinner with wife Catherine. Always active, he enjoyed playing sports, running, and gardening.

Burt was an outgoing, honest man. He was always willing to help his friends, neighbors and family, and was well liked by everyone he encountered. He will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered.

Burt was the beloved husband of Catherine (Hogan) Glassman with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Devoted father of Ellen M. Parisi and her husband Paul of Medford, Karen A. Elia and her husband Bob of SC, and Steven P. Glassman and his wife Sara of Marlborough. Dear brother of the late Jaekob Glassman. Loving grandfather of Christopher, Melissa, Jessica, Krista, Steven, Jeffrey, Michael and great-grandfather of Cole, Brynn, Hayes, Caden, Brock, Brody and
Brooklyn. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
