Ann E. "Mimi" Haddock, longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was 96.
Born in Melrose on August 19, 1924, one of three children of the late Curtis and Thelma (Bridges) Taggart. Ann grew up in Medford graduating from Medford High School in 1940 and Middlebury College in 1943 with a bachelor's degree in education. She went on to teach French in the Medford Public School System until 1950.
On October 28, 1950, Ann married her beloved Lester and they eventually settled in Melrose in the mid 50's to raise their family. She adored her family and was exceptionally active in their lives. She looked forward to the family trips to Mascoma Lake in New Hampshire, where she had been visiting since 1932. It did not matter where she was if she was with family.
A woman with a strong sense of duty, and faith, Ann volunteered on numerous boards at Melrose Highlands Congregational Church and served on the board of the Boston Visiting Nurses Association for over 30 years. She also enjoyed knitting and reading.
Ann's love, strength, and kindness will be missed by her family and friends, but they find comfort knowing she is now with her dearest Lester, whom she so dearly missed.
Ann was the beloved wife of the late Lester Haddock, Jr. with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Devoted mother of John C. Haddock of Haverhill, and Elizabeth J. Faughnan of Stoneham. Dear sister of the late Curtis Taggart and his wife Maryellen, and Jean Taggart. Proud grandmother of Andrew J. Faughnan and his wife Maura of Virginia Beach, VA, and Rebecca J. Faughnan of Melrose. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives & friends will gather in honor of Ann's life for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 4-7pm. Masks are required and social distancing will be maintained. Funeral services for Ann will be private. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
