Mr. Alfred W. "Ken" Kenworthy Jr., of Melrose, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.He was 81 years old.

Mr. Kenworthy was born in Everett, January 30, 1926 son of the late Alfred Kenworthy and Grace (Cooke) Kenworthy.

Ken graduated from Stoneham High School and Boston University and was a member of Lamba Chi Alpha Fraternity.He served his country during WWII as a Flight Engineer on B17's in the Army Air Force.

In 1950, he joined his father and brother in the family business - Kenworthy and Taylor Electrical Construction, Inc. of Everett and later became President of the company as a Master Electrician.

Mr. Kenworthy served as a board member of the Boston Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association, a President of the Melrose Hickory Hawks Ski Club, was active in the Melrose Republican City Committee, and a member of the American Legion - Peaks Island Post.He was a 60+ member of the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church, as well as the 70+ Ski Club and continued to ski downhill into his 80's.

He had an interest in WWII planes and visited many air shows and airfields in his travels and was a member of the Mighty Eighth Air Museum in Savannah, Georgia.He enjoyed traveling, snorkeling and boating.As a proud American, he always flew the flag outside his home.He was devoted to his family and built his home on Porter Street in Melrose as well as his favorite retreat on Peaks Island, Maine.

Ken was the beloved husband of Barbara (Fenton) Kenworthy.Loving father of Laurel E. Kenworthy and her husband, James Callahan of Peterborough, NH, Scot D. Kenworthy and his wife, Patricia of Melrose, and Eric B. Kenworthy and his wife, Joanne Chiulli Kenworthy of Melrose. Dear brother of Richard C. Kenworthy of N. Reading.Cherished grandfather of Leah Callahan, Emily Callahan, Tara Kenworthy, Jessica Kenworthy, and Gina Kenworthy.
