Albert R. Margeson

Albert R. Margeson, Jr., a resident of Melrose, formerly Swampscott, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on August 22, 2021 at age 88.

He was born in Everett on February 5, 1933, son of the late Albert R. Margeson and Lillias C. (Ginder) Margeson.

Al was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and from Tufts University. He served his country in the US Navy as a Lieutenant Jr. Grade aboard the USS Hornet from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957. After his return to civilian life, he received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and began a career as legal counsel with the New England Life Insurance Company where he worked for many years.

Al was married to Elizabeth J. Moore and they resided in Swampscott for many years. They enjoyed traveling together, especially to visit their ski house in New Hampshire where he could enjoy the mountains. Shortly after the death of his wife Elizabeth in 2020, Al returned to his roots in Melrose where he quickly found great friends while residing at the Residence at Melrose Station.

Al was a very loyal, and good friend to many. His gentle way and sincere heart will be remembered by those who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Al's life for his Graveside Service at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 1pm. Military honors will be presented by the United States Navy.
