Albert B. Al Dean
Mr. Dean was born September 22, 1926 in Somerville, son of the late Henry D. Dean and Gladys (Barrington) Dean.
Al graduated from Melrose High School and Boston University. He was a Certified Public Accountant for many years and proudly served in the US Navy during WWII.
Al was a retired partner of Deloitte & Touche, Public Accounting Firm and a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Melrose and was highly involved with the American Baptist Churches throughout Massachusetts. He was formerly a: Trustee of the Boston Baptist Social Union, Trustee of the Massachusetts Baptist Charitable Society, Treasurer of the Massachusetts Bible Society, Treasurer of the Massachusetts Council of Churches, Treasurer and Trustee Emeritus of the Andover Newton Theological Seminary, Business Administrator for the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts (TABCOM), member of the Wyoming Lodge AF&AM and Trustee of the Gardner - Colby Foundation.
Al was also formerly a Trustee at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was Trustee Emeritus of the New England Deaconess Association, Member of the Board at the Pines in Ocean Park, ME, a member of the Mystic Valley Railway Society, a Friend of the Melrose Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the Ocean Park Association of Ocean Park, ME. Al was an avid fan of the Red Sox and a railroad enthusiast.
Al was the beloved husband of Judith (Hill) Hamer Dean and the late Barbara E. (Wentworth) Dean. Loving father of Barry Dean of IN and Nancy Powell and her husband, Stephen of Concord. Step-father of Mark Hamer and his wife, Cheryl of NH, Laurel Walsh of VA and the late Scott A. Hamer USAF Maj. Ret. Dear cousin of David Colt and his wife, Marjorie of NH. Cherished grandfather of Lauren Powell and Rebecca Powell both of Concord and the late Christopher Powell and Matthew Hamer. Step-grandfather of Mara Cook-Hamer and Christopher Remillard both of NH, Jeneva Hamer and Jessica Hamer both of NV, Christopher Meeken, Eric Meeken and Marcus Davis all of NH. Great grandfather of Teegun Machado. "American father" of Rev. Dr. Mar Imsong and his family of Bedford.
